Labour Code

  • Increase the flexibility job creation and destruction – changes to leave pay, chaining of contracts, limiting the number of hours worked, fines for not a required share of disabled persons employing disabled.
  • Removing bands of minimum wage – Currently, minimum wage levels are in bands, depending on the skill-requirements of a job. overlooked regulation (even the Ministry of Finance does not count with these bands in its calculations) which reduces the flexibility of the labour market not only for low-income, but also in higher positions.
  • Regionalization of the minimum wage – a single (Slovak) minimum wage does not correspond to the reality of large regional differences in Slovakia. At the moment low-income, high-unemployment county Rožňava has higher minimum wage than Prague or Budapest. One of the technical solutions is to to keep the minimum wage equal, but to regionalize the amount of social contributions (thus influencing the disposable income).
  • Repeal the obligatory Occupational Health Services for low risk workplaces – health service (paid certificate by a health consultant, confirming there are no health risks at the company premises) for administrative / low risk jobs is a waste of scarce resources of businesses without any added value.
  • Abolishing the company’s responsibility for supplier’s illegal workers – current setting leads to an absurd situation that the customer is threatened by huge fines if the ordered services are supplied by illegal workers. It is simple transfer of the state’s responsibility for control functions on businesses. Moreover, these control function is almost impossible to carry out for businesses.
